About this deal

He admits the brakes, rear coaster style and even the front drum, aren’t incredibly efficient but riding it around the town of High River isn’t much of an issue. And that’s where it should be, on the road, so I’m glad I sold the project to Ron. Not many were sold. The business was bought by new owners who improved the engine somewhat just before the intervention of World War II and its resulting material shortages. The Whizzer was improved still further to 2-1/2 hp and a more reliable belt drive replaced the friction roller. Not only that, but Whizzer convinced the U.S. government that the Whizzer, as transportation for defense workers, was the cheapest and most economical of scarce resources. During the war no new automobiles were available but if you could prove you were a defense worker, you could buy a new Whizzer. Team One, under the leadership of Colonel Harold E. Watson, a former Wright Field test pilot, collected enemy aircraft and weapons for further examination in the United States. After hearing this, I realized that I was looking at the prototype of the Whizzer Sportsman. Well, part of the prototype. Art said, “It had gone through many motors and various other parts since its birth.” Art’s bike sports some other special parts that no other Sportsman can claim. The cylinder on his engine is made of aluminum; this was a cylinder that the factory experimented with, but was never put into production. Art’s bike also has the flywheel that was used at the factory for testing engines on the dynamometer.

I got on it, I put the fuel on, put the choke on and started pedaling. Nothing,” Ron says. “So, I wondered what I was doing wrong, I got in touch with Al, and he sent me a video of how to start it. Throttle slightly open, choke on full, pedal to the top, decompressor lever pulled in and as you stroke through it close the decompression and you’ll hear a putt. Stop. Turn the choke off, bring the pedal up, restart and it fires every time. It was hilarious, and off I went on my first putt. It really rolls and is quite impressive.” Now adding break-in miles, Ron is getting close to 200 on his reproduction Whizzer accessory speedometer. Engine-builder Al suggested the rebuilt Model H have that mileage before changing the oil and aiming for the “magical 40 miles per hour it might go,” Ron laughs. By 1943, World War II was well underway, and Whizzer Motors were forced to lobby the United States Government for the right to continue production of what was argued to be a great way for defense workers to travel to and from work. With the start of the Korean War in 1950, the air force needed the storage buildings, so the aircraft were moved outside. In 1953 some of the aircraft were moved to what would later become known as the National Air and Space Museum's Garber Restoration Facility in Suitland, Maryland, and the remaining aircraft were scrapped. It is possible that, as part of Lusty, both an American-captured example of the Junkers Ju 290 four-engined maritime patrol aircraft, and a captured prototype example of the Heinkel He 177A-7 ( Werknummer 550 256), a late war development of the Luftwaffe's only operational heavy bomber, had been ferried from Europe to the Park Ridge Depot, only to both be similarly crushed flat and buried under the modern O'Hare airport runways.Search for original spare parts and buy tested and approved accessories and care products for your Bosch appliances in the Bosch store. a b c "History of Whizzer Motorbikes". WhizzerMotorbike.com. Whizzer Motorbikes (company) . Retrieved 7 October 2015. Operation Lusty resulted in the survival of the sole existing examples of the Arado Ar 234 ( WkNr. 140 312) jet reconnaissance/bomber, the Dornier Do 335 ( WkNr. 240 102) twin-engined heavy fighter, and the only readily restorable example in the United States of the German Heinkel He 219 night fighter ( WkNr. 290 202), as well as the only surviving example of the Junkers Ju 388, a Ju 388L-1 reconnaissance model bearing WkNr. 560 049; all of which are in the collection of the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. These are either currently restored and on display (for the Ar 234B and Do 335A sole survivors), under restoration and partial display (for the He 219A), or still awaiting restoration at the Garber Facility in Maryland (for the Ju 388); with the first three noted examples now at the Dulles International Airport-located NASM museum facility, the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, the home of the new Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hangar, the NASM's latest primary restoration workshop.

I think the artist was Sandy Calder who had a similar style to Paddy Brennan both of them were General Jumbo artists as well. I once had an SSI directory from 1980 which featured illustrated biographies of all the artists. Sandy Calders sketch featured General Jumbo,Billy the Cat, THE WHIZZERS, a Highland Warrior and some kids on Chopper Bikes. Arriving at Art’s home, he led me to the shop behind his house and flipped on the lights as we approached the covered treasure that occupied a corner of the shop. When he whipped off the cover, I couldn’t believe what I saw. There before me sat one of the most pristine Whizzer Sportsman I have ever had the privilege of laying eyes on.Amazing product. We are passed potty training but so useful to have out an about when toilets aren't always near or clean! The Wizzzer or Wiz-z-zer is a gyrostat toy introduced by Mattel Toymakers in 1969, and introduced the spinning top to modern children. The "twist" (innovation) was the use of a super-spinning, high-tech bearing, that allowed the top to spin at very high speed and remain standing for a long period of time. This top did not rely on a string to attain high speed so it was easier to master than tops of old. Wizzers are not sold as scientific instruments, but may be used to demonstrate the conservation of angular momentum and gyroscope stability.

I'm Zoë, the inventor of the Whizzer. This is Mayson, my son, my angel and reason for creating this product. I bought this for my 3 year old for our holidays to Turkey is was an absolute life saver! Especially on the plane I would 100% recommend these. We now take it with us everywhere and I have it ready for when my 1 YO potty trains 👍

Whizzer motorcycle engines would cease to be produced in 1965 due to the increasingly competitive bicycle engine market. Paul - Spot on I remember the story in the 1966 Beezer annual that you mention as well. I still have my rather tatty copy. Its a well drawn strip, probably by the same artist that drew the Whizzers from Oz (very similar at any rate). Love it!! I was searching for a better solution than a jar for pee on the go with a toddler! I found Kiddiwhizz and I love it! I always take it with me when I'm out as you never know when your LO is going to ask for a weewee! We already used it in a park, cinema and a bus stop! Lifesaver! Any time you get a group of old bikers together and ask them about their first rides on a motor powered bike, there are three names that almost always surface, Whizzer, Cushman and Mustang. Mine was on a Whizzer motorbike. I had two Whizzers and a Cushman.
