About this deal

Sony has opted to use a combination of driver placement and psychoacoustic techniques to enhance the width and height of the soundstage whether you’re watching immersive content or not, and it works very well. Alongside the upward drivers, there’s the company’s Vertical Surround Engine (VSE), which up-mixes standard content to make use of the height channels. But more key to the A7000’s overall performance are the wide-spaced beam tweeters, which channel audio through a series of flute-like chambers, and Sony’s S-Force Front Surround Technology, which is engaged when the ‘Cinema’ and ‘Standard’ sound modes are selected. There’s a reason why this wireless subwoofer has the upper hand over conventional ones. Other subwoofers do not have the Σ (Sigma) circuit. That is why a large amount of magnetic force is leaked in the process. 6. Separated Notch Edge

There are so many connections that the cavern on the rear that’s designed to hold all the ports is on the cramped side, which is worth bearing in mind if you think you might want to access it regularly. Since it is an optional addition, many people do not even know about the subwoofer. If it were a standalone Sony speaker, it would have gained more popularity. 2. A bit Costly A subwoofer produces lower-frequency sounds, known as bass and sub-bass. It is different from regular speakers or stereo as they can’t reproduce bass correctly. That benefits the subwoofer because it can make the sound much more engaging and offer an ultimate surround sound system.Audio formats Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Dual mono, DTS, DTS HD High-Resolution Audio, DTS HD Master Audio, DTS ES, DTS 96/24, DTS:X, LPCM Take the sound to a deeper dimension by adding an optional subwoofer. The optional SA-SW3 and SA-SW5 models connect seamlessly and, like the surround speakers, use a wireless connection. With power outputs of 200 watts and 300 watts, respectively, expect edge-of-seat cinema style thrills. First of all, what exactly is Sony SA-SW5? It is an optional speaker to use with Sony HT-A9, A7000, and A5000 soundbars.

Lower bass frequencies can get really muddy. In bass heavy movies such as Sicario or Dune, the parts with deep bass just sounded like constant rumbling without any shape or form. All things considered, Sony SA-SW5 300W is still an optional device. And for that factor, it is expensive. Many TVs cost less than the subwoofer itself. On the surface, the subwoofer can be considered an extension of Sony’s speakers. FAQs About Sony SA-SW5 300W Wireless Subwoofer How do I connect my wireless subwoofer to my soundbar? I have many Sony products, from the AV amp, 4k BluRay and turntable, and even an Xperia 1III mobile which can play high-res spacial audio via Tidal over LDAC, therefore I wanted the Sony Soundbar as I felt it would play nice with the rest of the kit. Fortunately, it did work with everything, including the AV amp with turntable and FM radio. I connected the 3.5mm audio cable from the headphone out on the AV amp to the analog input on the soundbar.

At over 30cm, the HT-A9’s speakers are taller than most soundbar surrounds, but Sony has tried to make the design as understated as possible. The front and top faces are covered in a matte perforated grille while the rear of each unit is flattened off, allowing them to sit flush against walls, and there is a concealed hook for easy rigging. The positioning and focus of the speakers is flexible but they should maintain a direct line of sight to the listening position and the ceiling, so placing them in recessed cabinets or shelves should be avoided. You can manually adjust those settings for yourself in the simple UI Sony provides, but most folks should be fine with just the automatic calibration. This design and shape match Sony’s speakers and home theater systems. That’s because all their sound devices are designed with this shape in mind. This wireless subwoofer is designed specifically to pair with Sony’s soundbars. These include HT-A7000, HT-A5000, and HT-A9. It upgrades your home theater by offering you a cinematic sound experience. The LED screen certainly works well when you’re simply changing the volume, but it’s not the most helpful in showing you which format you’re working with: other soundbars will turn a certain color when they detect an Atmos signal or display it on the front LED. The A7000 does neither.

The soundbar’s side channels expertly send signals around the sides of a moderately sized living room. The top channels for overhead effects are also successful, but not as immersive as with a fully outfitted Atmos cinema or home theater, where the speakers are actually overhead. But the HT-A7000 is far more enjoyable than watching movies with TV speakers, stereo speakers, or soundbars without top- and side-firing speakers. As another bonus, quiet movie dialog that is often hard to discern when using stereo speakers is much clearer when the sound mix is spread out to a multichannel format like Atmos.Although Sony’s line of speakers already has an impressive sound, you might hear distortion. That’s due to their less focus on bass and more on increasing the volume. However, Sony SA-SW5 makes that right by producing low-frequency sounds with clear-cut quality. 4. Impressive Design During Finch, it was the Atmos spaciousness that heightened the tension in moments like the tornado scene, when objects and debris are swirling around and steel cables break under the stress. Of course, the latest James Bond romp No Time To Die has plenty of bullets, explosions, aircraft, tire-screeching car chases, overhead glass breaking, and water deluges to exploit the Atmos capabilities as well. Throughout the film, dialogue is naturalistically, and often quietly, spoken – but once again the A7000 shows excellent presence, and while adding in the Sony TV to bolster the centre channel doesn’t dramatically alter the already impressive soundfield, it nicely adds to the openness and character of voices. Should you need it there’s a dialogue boost setting, and if you’re watching DTS:X content you can individually adjust the dialogue level using the remote. Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 28th November 2023. Normally with something this expensive I tend to get a bit of buyers remorse, but with both the tv and soundbar I have absolutely no regrets. The subwoofer has concentric cuts on the edge. It maneuvers the stress inside and outside the diaphragm. How to Use Sony SA-SW5 300W Wireless Subwoofer This setup also has a Sound Field Optimization room correction feature. To access this feature, you need to connect the bar to your TV. You can see a clip of the setup process here. The HT-A7000 comes with a remote control, power cable, and an HDMI cable—enough to get you up and running by connecting the soundbar’s HDMI out to your TV’s HDMI eARC/ARC input. The two HDMI inputs incorporate your streaming media box, game console, Blu-ray player, or other components. The double woofers on the front of the bar do provide a bit of oomph - especially when you crank the volume up above the 60% mark - but they in no way replace what a discrete subwoofer can provide. The same can be said for the upfiring speakers and drivers responsible for surround sound that come off as a little weaker than what we’d like. Setting up the SA-SW5 is a breeze, thanks to its wireless connectivity. Simply connect it to your audio system using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and you're good to go. This wireless feature not only reduces cable clutter but also provides the flexibility to place the subwoofer anywhere in the room for optimal bass response. This is particularly useful if you have limited space or if you prefer a clean and minimalist setup.
