About this deal

Nuln oil – slightly thinned down then covering the whole model to create a worn detail to the armour

There’s a lot that can go into army-building, but here are a few basics: every card has a point value, which counts towards the point total (higher point cards are more valuable, etc.); unit cards will specify how many miniatures there are per unit, what special abilities the unit has, and what upgrades the unit can take; upgrade cards can come in the form of abilities, weapons, or traits. To begin, the 2 opposing players will build their army for the battle. The Clone Wars Core Set includes a super-basic intro battle (highly recommended as your first play), and enough points for each player to build a 425-ish force. For reference, Legion suggests 2 official battle types: skirmish (500-point armies, played on a 3x3ft map where roughly a third of the map is covered in terrain) and standard (800-point armies, played on a 3x6ft map where roughly a quarter of the map is covered in terrain). Once you have assembled your forces you them need to assemble your force adding in troopers, vehicles, and of course, characters from the epic film series. Just as they should, characters like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader can change the course of the battle, if used to their strengths! Exemplar lets you get around the Clone Trooper sharing “cap” by providing another source of tokens, and there is no limit to how many Exemplar tokens you can spend. With Anakin, Padme, and Bolster, you can load up to five surge tokens per turn onto Exemplar units, and use those like a battery for all your sharing needs. You can also, of course, share extra dodge and aim tokens this way, in addition to standbys, which is not something you can get from your fellow clones anymore. BARC/Fluttercraft/ISP/AT-RT: All have surge to hit and with Cody and Linked Targeting Array can start a round strong with a fire support, no matter what the base dice pool is a fully surging Z6 is always going to be a threat. SummaryStar Wars: Legion is played over the course of six rounds as you and your opponent duel over objectives on a battlefield of the Galactic Civil War. At the end of six rounds, the player with the most victory tokens (earned from objectives) wins the game. Slots: Heavy, Personnel, Gear, Grenade. Standard corps fare. The gear slot and the grenade slot won’t be filled that often, but Phase Is have arguably the greatest variety of viable heavy and personnel upgrades of the various corps.

Though not quite as cost effective as the Stormtrooper specialist, the Clone Specialist is easily the most versatile, giving you access to a dodge, aim, or surge. Most of the time, this is going to be an aim token, though there may be situations where you want one of the others. Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Grievous each pose with lightsabers at the ready, prepared to lead their troops into battle and show off their skills in combat. Both these miniatures are exclusive to the Clone Wars Core Set. [3] Under the Empire of the Hand, it appears that the 501st Legion had been reorganized, with the reduction of the standard company to forty men; if the companies were all indicated by individual letters of the Aurebesh like Aurek Company, the overall strength may have been no more than 1,360 men. Fire support is all about converting those surges. Adding Critical 1 isn’t quite as good as just the entire pool having surge/crit, but it is the next best thing, especially if you also have some surge tokens lying around (preferably on Exemplar units so you can spend all of them). This pool is 64/8 (if the DC-15 is also at range 3) or 8 hits before accounting for any extra surge tokens lying around. Yoda supported by Z-6 If you have Anakin, the Exemplar surges are probably enough to get good value out of Boil on a Phase I. If you don’t have Anakin though, you might consider putting Boil in a Phase II unit so you can convert those surges on your guardian rolls. TrainingThe Separatist Alliance poses a threat to peace in the galaxy, wielding a massive droid military with overwhchning numbers. Standing against them are the clone troopers of the Galactic Republic, who are trained as soldiers from their conception and deeply loyal to their cause. The war between them is an epic strugle in which every battle could turn the tide and change the fate of the galaxy... [4]

The Z-6 is also a great weapon for Fire Support, since it just adds a ton of raw dice onto a pool that likely converts surges. You can also just fire support another Z-6 pool if you want to get crazy and throw 20-22 dice at once. The Z-6 should be your default heavy weapon option for Phase IIs. Phase II Mortar TrooperEnter a new era of battle in the Star Wars universe. The Republic’s Clone Troopers face off against the Separatist droid army in this core set. Obi-Wan and General Grevious are also included, along with all the cards, tools and tokens you need to begin your own battles in this massive universe. You can mix this core set in with other expansions and core sets, but this set can also be played on its own. There are a lot of possibilities here, since Echo has Sharpshooter, Lethal and Critical 1. The most fun Fire Supports are the ones you can surprise your opponent with; if you Fire Support Echo with a DC-15 at Range 4 or an RPS-6 at Range 4, you can have a 4-5 dice pool that will chunk some models off reliably at a range where they though they were safe. Wookiees supported by Z-6 I am not going to dwell too much on fire support tactics (that is worthy of its own article and indeed will be) but here are some of my favorite combos. Z-6 supported by DC-15 (or anything else with Critical X) In addition to introducing the Galactic Republic and Separatist Alliance to the game as new factions, this Core Set contains all the cards, tools and tokens you need to begin staging your own Star Wars battles right away, making this the perfect starting point for building your Star Wars: Legion collection. Importantly, the Clone Wars Core Set is not a new edition of the game, and you don't need the original Core Set to start playing. The Clone Wars Core Set is fully compatible with all previous Star Wars: Legion products, inviting you to play out whatever battles you can imagine across the saga.
