There are probably a lot more than 11 things you don’t know about Pimm’s, since many folks outside of the U.K. don’t know a ton about Pimm’s in the first place. (Well, some of us do, but we’ll get to that.)

A homemade alcoholic recipe can also be used to substitute Pimm’s. Some great non-alcoholic substitutes include balsamic vinegar & lemonade, Ritual Gin Alternative, Wilfred’s Aperitif & ginger beer, and pale ale & kombucha. In baking, you can replace Pimm’s with Plymouth Fruit Cup. I didn’t want my Pimms to be as sweet as the commercial stuff so I was a bit restrained when adding the sugar syrup. I also achieved a more personal blend by adding a splosh more gin that a traditional recipe might include and also a little spritz of aperol which just grabs you just at the end. Very important: to make Pimm's, you need to use British-style lemonade, not cloudy lemonade. I mean, I guess you could use cloudy lemonade and it would probably still taste great, but that's not what's usually used.

Over the years, Pimm's extended their range, using other spirits as bases for new "cups". After World War II, Pimm's No. 4 Cup was invented, followed by Pimm's No. 5 Cup and Pimm's No. 6 Cup in the 1960s.
