About this deal

A while ago, my kids and I spent months and months putting together a list of the best picture books, and parents message me every week to say thank you for that list. But some parents also have another request: What are the best books for 2-year-olds? Stories to Grow By believes that these are the best stories that should be shared at bedtime. Each story has been hand selected from among hundreds of stories for kids from all over the world. We ensure that each bedtime story helps children ease into sleep and leaves them with a positive outlook on themselves and the world around them. You can also lead by example. Does your toddler see you reading? If not, make sure they see you reading regularly too and they may feel more interested in their own books. What kinds of books are good for a 2-year-old? Owl Babies– Toddlers love the repetition in this book. If your child experiences separation anxiety such as when being dropped off at daycare, this book will especially resonate with them.

Finally, we want to include any products that have received industry awards as we know this means they stand out from the rest. We cross-reference this information with the rest of our research to help us recommend a variety of books for 2-year-olds that will engage and entertain your toddler. Why you should trust usInside: Here are the best books for 2-year-olds to inspire a lifelong love of reading in your toddler. Endorsed by toddlers AND parents. But sometimes reading aloud to a 2-year-old makes you question whether it’s actually doing any good. These books for 2-year-olds don’t necessarily fall under any of the previous categories, but they’re all excellent and perfect for toddlers! Once upon a time, there was a mermaid, a crab, a sea-lion, a sea-horse and a sea turtle. They all lived together in the Great Pacific Ocean. They all set out on a treasure hunt to find the Great Castle of Gold. On the way, they meet Tory – a fish who has lost her way, and claims to have seen the Castle of Gold.

Technicolor Treasure Hunt– This book is great for learning colors, counting, and new words. Plus, it’s a book your child can continue to grow with. When my 2-year-old turned three, she would sit and count everything in this book on her own. The farmers in a village are told by an Oracle that there will be no rains for a long time. Everybody is depressed and put away their ploughs and tools, and sit down to wait for the rains to return. One farmer – Hari – continues to plough his fields daily and sow seeds at the beginning of every season. Everybody in the village makes fun of him. A children’s book collection wouldn’t complete without at least one or two Julia Donaldson stories. Her easy-to-read, funny and engaging rhyming text makes her books a hit with both parents and children alike. A story about a friendly witch and her new friends, the cat, dog, bird and frog, Room on the Broom is a favourite amongst our Mumsnet users. I Just Want to Say Good Night– If you have a child who stalls at bedtime, this is a must read. Toddlers especially love how the main character Lala exerts some small amount of power over her own bedtime, plus they’ll feel “in” on the joke when they get the meta reference to Goodnight Moon at the end.

I couldn’t leave any of them off of the list. These are the best titles to add to your toddler book collection and are the best books for 2-year-old boys and girls!
