About this deal

Nakamura is a shy boy who falls in love at first sight with another boy—his dreamy high school classmate Hirose.

If the “wholesome” medal is meant to protect younger readers, then be extremely careful with what you choose to bestow it upon. This sequel is strangely off-kilter like the author didn't know what they wanted to do with the story. On September 15, 2017, Seven Seas Entertainment announced that it would release an English translation of the series. I can relate to both Nakamura AND Hirose in a number of the situations, the girl characters don't just exist to be annoying, and I was smiling the whole way through! Both main characters are so cute and pure, it's hard not to like them or root for their relationship to progress.Kudos to Seven Seas for striking out into BL territory; this is their first title and as it has a Teen rating, makes an ideal addition to any library, high school or otherwise, seeking to expand its LGBT resources.

By the end of 2014, Syundei was contacted by the managing editor of Opera to draw a comic to fill empty spaces in an issue of a magazine. It's important to note that King in Limbo was originally published in 2017, before the COVID-19 pandemic, making this feel just a teensy bit prescient. Nakamura is in no doubt that he’s gay but he doesn’t have a clue how that works in real-life relationships. It’s immediately clear what’s really going on to the reader but this light touch makes the reader giggle at Nakamura for being a lovesick high school boy who happens to be gay, not the other way around. Unfortunately, Nakamura is also woefully awkward and prone to extreme blushing fits, so it's not always smooth sailing.Yaoi Genre: A more comedic example; Nakamura is head-over-heels in love with his male classmate Hirose, but he's too shy to even try to make friends with him. One of my favorite shows of the fall 2023 season was the animated adaptation of INORI's light novel series, the latest in a string of isekai anime revolving around the concept of video game "villainess" characters redeeming themselves. I've been prefering those books a lot more lately like the stressful realizing feelings can be fun, but it's nice for that part to already be done.
