Look at this skeletal body enjoying his summer in the spirit world of the dead. He appears to have a great, warm day after a long time of cold in the world of the dead. Make sure he enjoys his day by coloring the scene to flamboyance. This is an image of a simple sugar skull without many complications. Doesn’t it still look wonderful? This really shows the power of simplicity. The simpler, the more powerful, the better. I’m sure the person wearing this skull will have a fun time, he/she will look just astounding. Oh, hey! You have a chance to wear this sugar skull! Just print this image, color it as per your taste, cut the outlines neatly, attach a string to either end of the cheek, and wear it as though it were a mask! Here is your chance to celebrate the Day of the Dead in Mexican style! Here is a dead husband celebrating the Day of the Dead with his wife. They appear to be enjoying their company on this glorious day dedicated to them. Enrich this romantic moment with colors. The event is near and dear to many. It's also a big family celebration with costume and altar contests, live music and food vendors celebrating Mexican culture at the cemetery. But we do decorate it more starting mid-to-late-October. We had a death in the family in July, our matriarch, my Nina Marina, and I know it’s going to be extra emotional because she was the one who taught us to create the altar,” she says. “And now she’ll be on it for the first time.” Californian Hispanic and Latin Americans celebrate Day of the Dead with a parade and altars commemorating departed family and friends at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. Whether it's gathering at home or the cemetery, building ofrendas (or altars) with photos of the beloved deceased, marigolds, dressing up and sharing your loved ones favorite food, there are many ways to celebrate Day of the Dead. When is Day of the Dead 2023 Here is Mr. Potato Head from Toy Story, who is also here to celebrate the Day of the Dead. He wants to pay his respects to his parents (who were also potatoes – naturally). Well, what’s funny is this potato has bones! Anyways, color him great to make him presentable in front of his (dead) parents. For Rene Flores Juarez, 68, who hails from Atlixco, Mexico, and currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, Day of the Dead is a multi-day celebration starting Oct. 28. As he tells TODAY.com in Spanish, on the first day they place a white candle, white flower and a glass of water on the altar for the souls who do not have any family. At Lopez’s Día de Muertos event, it incorporated traditional elements of the holiday, along with his new traditions he creates and establishes as he continues to host. It’s a celebration about honoring and keeping alive the memory of your loved ones and believing that one day you’ll be together. (It is believed) on that one day, even though you’re alive, that realm opens up and you’re together on the Day of the Dead,” Marquez says. “The celebration, and the event itself, it’s very deep and meaningful for a lot of people and everybody has a different idea (of how to celebrate).” A view of the atmosphere at the 23rd Annual Dia De Los Muertos at Hollywood Forever on October 29, 2022 in Hollywood. My dad is from Mexico and my mom is second-generation Mexican American,” she shares. “Several years ago, I started hearing about it and seeing more of the celebrations on social media and online. By then I had lost some relatives and the symbolism of remembering our loved ones during this time really affected me.” Mexico is that country full of colorful traditions and a vibrant culture that expands past the beautiful vacation beaches, resorts, and friendly people. The country is worth visiting for many reasons; like its extraordinary culinary distinctiveness, archeological sights, and also for its diversity of festivals. Mexico has many local customs that are typical to specific areas of the country, but some deep-rooted traditions and events are celebrated throughout the country.

Lopez began the celebration at his home to educate his non-Latino friends about the history of the Mexican holiday. It has since grown to be an event also dedicated to his 91-year-old grandmother, abuelita Lola Joann V. Cisneros, or “Lita” as he calls her, who received the inaugural Abuelita Award. Famous artist and husband of Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, immortalized La Catrina in one of his murals that depicted 400 years of Mexican history. The mural “Dreams of a Sunday Afternoon in Alameda Park” was painted in the 1940’s and displays several important Mexican characters with La Catrina showcased on the 15-meter mural. He painted a self-portrait of himself as a child holding hands with her in the front row. Rivera painted her wearing sophisticated clothing and an extravagant hat with feathers, consequently creating the look that she is well-known for today. The mural can be seen in the Diego Rivera Mural Museum in Mexico City. Very well worth the visit if you are ever in Mexico City! Bri Luna, founder of The Hoodwitch and author of “Blood Sex Magic,” says the holiday has spiritual and cultural significance for her. La Catrina: technically the correct term to use when referring to the elaborate, opulent skull makeup look for Día de Muertos that commonly features flowers and other rich embellishments

Day of the Dead is not the “Mexican Halloween” like it is sometimes mistaken to be because of the timing of the year. It has nothing to do with the traditional Halloween customs that are well-known in the USA and other parts of the world. Actually, decorating your house with spiders and bats and wearing scary costumes is not done in most parts of Mexico. The most Halloween thing that resembles the traditional Halloween activities is celebrated in the more contemporary areas of Mexico where kids go door-to-door asking for calaveritas (small skulls), expecting candy or fruit. Bottom line: Be respectful and try to keep the meaning of Día de los Muertos, not cosplay, at the forefront when coming up with your designs. What do you need for Day of the Dead makeup? The purpose of the Day of the Dead is primarily to remind people that life in the material world is ephemeral. It serves to remind observers of the age-old existential priorities, including family cohesion, community, and joy for the sake of it. Like many cultures, the holiday also stresses the importance of honoring ancestors and, by extension, remembering the values and traditions that have been passed down over generations. Here is a girl celebrating the Day of the Dead. She has tattooed her face so that it looks like a skull. Skulls are used on the Day of the Dead for people to connect themselves with the dead. Use a wide range of vibrant colors to make her tattoos look as gorgeous as her.
