About this deal
It exhibits a little bit of optical vignetting, so you can get a bit of swirl at the right distances, and the shape of the Christmas…sorry…bokeh balls will look a bit more cat-eyed towards the edges of the frames. It is recommended to have a look at this article first to get an idea how this brightness graph works. Close focus is 0.7m, closer than its Leica Noctilux 50mm 0.95 competitor, but in my opinion that is only for bragging rights. There are two main issues with close focus: Same holds true with the sun close to a corner of the frame. Leica M10 | TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 | f/0.95 The calibration of mine is about 99%. At 3m the focus is under focused by about 1 degree (focus ring turn).
Another thing I appreciate: the TTArtisan 50mm f/0.95 infinity stop is well calibrated! Or at least, my M6 rangefinder seems to be in agreement with the mechanical infinity stop of the lens. This is a first for a TTArtisan lens (at least for me).Stopping down yields steady improvements and by f/2.0 the performance is good to very good. Flare resistance Leica M10 | TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 | f/0.95 When they announced its upcoming TTArtisan 50mm f/0.95 lens, it made lots of noise. Can a Chinese brand realistically propose an usable alternative to the holy grail Noctilux?! Would it be even usable wide open considering its price? I decided to give it a go and see how it performs. You will find below my honest review about it after some months of use. As usual, I will (almost) only speak about real life things that matter out in the field. I don’t do test charts.
There is a lot of spherochromatism and other aberrations, which are different aberrations in different dimensions. The very best protective filter is the Hoya multicoated HD3 67mm UV which uses hardened glass and repels dirt and fingerprints. This may be due to the difficulty of making an f/0.95 lens for the small M-mount bayonet, but it may also be the case that the image circle of this lens is slightly too small. TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 M With such a large maximum aperture, and focal length of 50mm (75mm equivalent), one would think that this lens would be huge but considering what it is, the size of it is actually quite manageable. In other words, it’s really not that big. I would argue it’s actually compact given what its capabilities are. I had this lens mounted on my Fuji X-T3 for weeks, and it’s something that balances very nicely on the camera. Now, everyone is free, … for me state or not state company is not the point : high level of national incomes are used for hegemony inside and outside the country, many many dangerous weapons, cameras systems, softwares and systems to control people, spying, … list should be very long. I do not want to help them to build the chains they will put around me. The obvious question to Sony users is: how does the TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 compare to the slightly cheaper Zhong Yi 50mm 0.95 III? The gear I used for that review is a Leica M6 with Ilford HP5 for the film part, and a M10 for the digital part of the review.
