About this deal

Appealing for both beginning and experienced Tarot readers, "The Mythic Tarot" will stimulate your curiosity and offer you an endless source of fresh insight and intuitive guidance. I am using it more as a mindset thing, although I am not just relying on it as an external locus of control. Alongside this, she’s taught and supervised at the Centre for Psychological Astrology since it began in June 1983. I’ve always found the deck quite frustrating but now I see it’s due to my lack of knowledge of certain elements in Greek mythology! The Court cards are my least favorite part of this deck, but for me that’s pretty par for the course.

I love how the Empress (Demeter) has been rendered in this card – pregnant, and standing among her growing crops. Illustrated by tarot artist Giovanni Caselli, the cards depict the archetypal characters of the Greek myths, whose experiences perfectly reflect the deeper patterns of our lives today. These familiar, evocative images make it easy to remember the specific meaning and nuances of each card. The ratings/reviews displayed here may not be representative of every listing on this page, or of every review for these listings. She’s co-authored a couple of titles with Liz Greene, including The Mythic Tarot and The Mythic Journey, the former of which included a tarot deck and was based on Greek myths. Back of New Mythic Tarot deck packet says: The New Mythic Tarot Deck depicts the gods and goddesses, heroes and heroines of the Greek myths - familiar archetypal characters whose experiences perfectly mirror the shifts and patterns of our lives today. I love companion books, and have always referred to them during readings joyfully, but I’m reading this one from start to finish, it’s so compelling.

Now, for this twenty-fifth anniversary edition, the text has been revised, brought up to date and the deck completely reillustrated by internationally renowned artist, Giovanni Caselli. The expertly written 256-page illustrated book guides the reader through the myths, the imagery and symbolism of each tarot card, and the meaning of the card at both the inner level and the divinatory level. The court cards do feature some references to astrological attributions – for example, the Queen of Wand’s cat is a lion, signifying the fixed fire sign of Leo – but these are very subtle and can be used or ignored as desired. I have had this deck now for five years, and have read and study it 69 times, and I shall continue doing it because I love the deck and the book so much. This classic deck, first published in 1989, has now been re-illustrated by Giovanni Caselli, an artist with a passion for the classical world, its literature, symbols and myths. They’re really handy for that, and the association I’ve built up with the deck transfers over at least a little to the deity with Whom I’m engaging.
