About this deal

Larisha Paul from Rolling Stone felt that "Throughout the film, Simz settles into a lead role surrounded by other Black performers to not only reject praise provided by external validation, but also reject the harmful myth of the strong Black women that more often than not erases the sympathy of human struggle by discrediting emotions that don't line up with the preconceived narrative prescribed to them. A full string and horn section also contributes tastefully to multiple tracks, with my personal favourite orchestral moments being on No Merci and X. Most of the tracks conclude with lengthy instrumental codas, where Simz effectively cedes centre-stage to Inflo’s lushly inventive arrangements, which, with their swirls of choral vocals and swelling strings, nod to the oft-sampled work of both David Axelrod and Charles Stepney without ever seeming like straightforward homage. Vote up content that is on-topic, within the rules/guidelines, and will likely stay relevant long-term.

As the meaning behind their label name suggests (a rough translation from Spanish as 'hill view') Loma Vista has climbed to the summit of today's musical landscape, engaging and representing a sweeping range of the most popular scenes and genres of today. This is seen in the track Silhouette, for example, with a punchy beat along with uplifting choral vocals that create a wonderfully composed song.In the case of Little Simz, the sudden arrival of No Thank You, less than eight weeks after she won the Mercury prize for its predecessor, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, seems to mostly involve getting things off her chest. Tracks like X and Control give me goosebumps, with moving instrumentals and beautifully delivered bars. The lyrics in this album are usually focused on serious and more personal topics regarding Little Simz's career as an artist.

It's a record that you can put on and just vibe to, nothing to heavy, you can just head bop to it and enjoy. This release, titled "Sometimes I Might Be Introvert", was praised by many, with some of those people claiming that Little Simz was a mixture of Lauryn Hill and Kendrick Lamar. That said, there’s no doubt that No Thank You’s impact is vastly potentiated by the work of producer Inflo, who worked on both Sometimes I Might Be Introvert and 2019’s Grey Area, and whose approach to his project Sault – no promotion, no live performances, no interviews, music apparently released as and when he feels like it, even if that means putting out five albums on the same day – seems to reflect the manifesto outlined on Angel: “Fuck rules and everything that’s traditional.

In the edit page, go to the 'Metadata' tab and add your Juno artist, label or release page for listeners to purchase your release / releases.Nearly half of Silhouette’s six and half minutes is Simz-free, taken up with dramatic orchestration, booming drums and backing singers. For example, in the track Angel, she talks about her rise to fame and her experience of being taken advantage of by her team at some point during her career. She has a lot of important stuff to say, and the world would benefit from taking the time to listen to her. The albums of the year 2022: our critic's choice from Kendrick Lamar and Little Simz to Weyes Blood and Gwenno". Often, NO THANK YOU sounds like a SAULT record fronted by Simz—see the gospel swells on “Broken,” or the slick, cool-as-fuck, plucked-bass bop of “Gorilla”—not only because of the palette of satin strings and funky drums, but because of the charming confidence and faith in collaboration that seep through, as they do on all of SAULT’s transformative records.

The killing of her friend Harry Uzoka—stabbed to death in 2018—hung as an unsettling shroud over that album. In 2019, she described the writing process for GREY Area as like attending therapy—but without going “to sit on someone else’s sofa and dish out my issues to a stranger so they could charge me by the minute.A "reflective" track with " electronic coos," the song pays tribute to Simz's late childhood friend Harry Uzoka, a famous model who was killed in a stabbing in January 2018, and also examines Simz's fame, music industry complications, and personal endurance.
