About this deal

This was a very nice sapphic Romance. Although with some questionable attitudes, Scottie and Irene were very nice, very flawed individuals. Sadly all the situations felt kind of artificial, at least until the middle; but after coming clean it all became more natural, and they started to grow on me. I found myself enjoying and liking a lot more all the secondary characters. Danielle, Kevin, Honey-Belle, Gunther, Thora and the adorably unpredictable little Daphne. On the other hand, hated Tally, and Charlotte. I think a bit more laugh out loud moments and an occasional different pov besides Scottie's could have worked wonders. Still, some very heartwarming moments, and a few tear jerking ones as well, with an intensive nonstop slow burn. A powerful message on the importance of communication and respecting the healing process. In all, a highly enjoyable read. Enemies to lovers, fake dating, LGTB, YA and a lot of movie references. Almost fav. Casi favorito. She Drives Me Crazy is the perfect romcom. It’s the kind of romance that is sizzling with chemistry, but still manages to be utterly earnest and heartfelt. A must-read for every romcom fan.”—Adiba Jaigirdar, author of The Henna Wars I thought 2020 is THAT year for us gays, but it seems like from now on every year will be THAT year. After losing spectacularlyto her ex-girlfriend in their first basketball game since their break up, Scottie Zajac gets into a fender bender with the worst possible person: her nemesis, the incredibly beautiful and incredibly mean cheerleading captain, Irene Abraham. Things only get worse when their nosey, do-gooder moms get involved and the girls are forced to carpool together until Irene’s car gets out of the shop.

we were told Tally, the ex-girlfriend was toxic, but we were never shown why Scottie loved her in the first place, or how exactly was she toxic My first queer/lesbian book I’ve read and i can’t wait to read more. Our community She Drives Me Crazy is a little bit ridiculous in the best way possible. Quindlen expertly balances creating three dimensional characters and exploring the impact of toxic relationships with all the campy trappings of a 90’s rom com. With a fake dating scheme for the ages between two sworn enemies, the only one bed trope and a Christmas town setting, She Drives Me Crazy is the most unapologetically fun book I’ve read in ages. The narration of the audiobook by Piper Goodeve, was great. I felt like I watched a movie when I was done. All the characters came alive and felt like they had their own voices. It didn’t feel like anyone was just slightly different, instead I could easily tell which character was talking from their unique voice and this is a large cast since it takes place at high school, parties, and with families. Minus one dad character voice that was pretty over the top, I think this is one of the more impressive audiobook narrations I’ve heard before so I would easily recommend it. This has the one-bed trope which I love, of course. But, I feel like the author could have definitely done more with it. It was quite brief and not super developed or elaborated on. There wasn’t any of the “they woke up in each other's arms” thing which was a little painful and just a waste of opportunity, really. I just know it could have been done so well; it could have been cold because of the ac and stuff so they'd have to hold each other to stay warm, or the nightmare trope possibly. Just felt like a missed opportunity.Tally sighs. Dead leaves skitter across the concrete. Okay, look, I don’t want to fight. I should have known it was a bad idea to talk when you’re all riled up after a game—

I think there’s a glimmer of recognition in Tally’s eyes, but she looks away before I can be sure. Um—anyway. Some game, right? I’ve never seen you that pissed off before. I think you actually scared some of my teammates. She laughs, but it’s hollow. On top of that this had absolutely amazing female friendships. Both of the main heroines have the strongest friend groups. I love seeing characters who have friends in there life that support each other this fiercely. Everyone needs a Honey-Belle. (Also can I get an entire book for Honey-Belle? She’s amazing) Tally Gibson was the first and only person I ever loved. She transferred to my school at the beginning of junior year with all the airs of the big city and a drive to prove herself on and off the court. The first time we talked, she tugged on my ponytail and told me I had the prettiest red hair she’d ever seen. The first time we kissed, it was like a flash fire ripped through me. Danielle knows how devastated I was after Tally broke up with me, and how I’ve just barely recovered. Between that and her competitive drive, Danielle is determined to win this game at all costs, even though we’ve lost to Candlehawk the last three years in a row. We lose most of our games, but it’s never stopped Danielle from dreaming of a winning season. That girl. Like I’m some pathetic nonfactor who means nothing to Tally. She obviously didn’t think I was worth mentioning to her new teammates.A cast of characters you'll fall in love with and a love story you'll be obsessed with— She Drives Me Crazy is one of my favorite rom-coms of the year. Trust me when I say you need this book." —Leah Johnson, author of You Should See Me in a Crown The classic, unavoidable, miscommunication trope (sigh). There was no reason for that, and the ex-drama that was randomly interwoven with that was also annoying and frustrating. Hey, asshole!” I shout to the Candlehawk player. She turns around, scandalized. So do the rest of her teammates, including a bewildered Tally. “My name is Scottie!”

one of the book's strengths is its well-rounded cast of characters. scottie's angst is relatable, and her love interest irene is amazingly powerful. i loved watching their dynamic shift as scottie learns there's more to irene than her popular cheerleader mean girl image. their relationship is sweet and ridiculously romantic. and it becomes remarkably healthy, especially considering the fact that it stems from fake dating drama!! Irene is gorgeous but she is also cruel and dismissive to underlings like Scottie. Thanks to the accident, Irene will be without her car for a few weeks and she is forced to carpool with Scottie and that’s the last thing either of them want to do. She Drives Me Crazy is the perfect romcom. It’s the kind of romance that is sizzling with chemistry, but still manages to be utterly earnest and heartfelt. A must-read for every romcom fan.” —Adiba Jaigirdar, author of The Henna Wars Perfectly captures the joys and hopes and thrills of being a real, authentic teenager . . . A fantastic read for queer teens today.”—Kacen Callender, Stonewall and Lambda Award–winning author This Is Kind of an Epic Love Story

anyway. scottie initiates the fake dating drama in the hope of evoking jealousy from her ex, tally (who happens to be on the rival basketball team). i expected this to turn into a straightforward romance between scottie and irene, but i was impressed by the nuance. People break our hearts, but they create more room in them first, and that room makes it possible for us to become more ourselves.
