I’m noticing now in the picture that there was still a bit of dampness on the grout when I took this and it looks darker on my test patch there, but the grout dried back to its normal color just fine. If required, use as a grout residue remover in conjunction with Grout Cleaner and Mould and Mildew Remover.

Always protect these areas and test the product in an inconspicuous area on-site to determine suitability for the intended use. Use the float again: The rubber float is your best friend because it is soft enough to drag the grout off but hard enough that its edge won't dig into your grouted joints. Grout Haze Plus is a fast-acting concentrated cleaner based on phosphoric acid, designed to remove most cement and grout haze. Grout Magic can make old shower grout look like new, well as wall and floor grouting in bathrooms and kitchens. If required, use as a grout residue remover in conjunction with Grout Cleaner and Mould and Mildew Remover.Grout haze occurs when residue from the grout installation dries on the surface of the grout and the tiles. With enough effort, a professional cleaning solution should deal with your grout haze issues, so long as you follow the instructions given on the product. Sandpaper or even those green pot scrubbers will be too rough and will scratch the surface of your tile, even if you have really raw stone tile like we have. Wait for the tile to dry: Note that initially, it might seem like the wet sponge will take off the grout haze, but that is only because the surface of the tile is wet.

Grout can be a difficult to remove once dry and can look unsightly on polished tiles on the wall or floor. Apply the solution generously with a paint brush or sponge onto the affected areas of the ceramic or porcelain tiles, allowing the solution to dwell for a 5 to 10 minutes.

If you'd like to make your own grout haze remover and stay chemical-free, vinegar in conjunction with plain water can break up grout haze. Courtenay is the author of the book The Cleaning Ninja and has been featured in numerous magazines including Country Sampler Farmhouse Style, Better Homes and Gardens, Parents Magazine, Real Simple, and Our Homes.

Porous stone types, such as limestone tiling, are particularly vulnerable to grout hazing, though grouting hazing can be experienced on all forms of natural stone tiling. Otherwise, you might have to use harsher cleaners or even be stuck with some haze that doesn't fully go away. For minor grout haze, you might simply be able to remove it with some cheesecloth, which is mildly abrasive.

It can also be uses to remove mortar and cement residues from terracotta, concrete and other types of natural stone such as limestone and sandstone. NOTE: Following the instructions below, perform a small test application in an inconspicuous area on-site prior to use. ALWAYS TEST A SMALL HIDDEN AREA BEFORE USE to ensure the final result is satisfactory and no damage has occurred to the surface. NOTE: Do not use on limestone, marble, black slate, polished natural surfaces or other acid sensitive surfaces.

Before using a cleaning solution, we’d always suggest applying an amount to a small area, to get the strength right. Cleaning it up right away definitely makes a difference, but I think the biggest factor is probably what kind of tile you’re using. Do not apply in direct sunlight (Dark Stone can get very hot – ensure the surface is cool to touch). A combination of minerals, cement, and water, grout haze can be quickly identified by the white streaks it leaves behind on your tiles and is an unfortunate side effect of the grouting process - though, one that might not be immediately obvious. Use a mop or spray bottle to apply the cleaner to the flooring, then scrub each tile with a white tile sponge.
