About this deal

We finish with one of the 'original two' and Roses, who launched in 1938, two years after Quality Street first came onto the market.

Like Heroes, they comprises miniature versions of the chocolate brands owned by the manufacturer - Mars. As for the brands that’ve been lost, there have been a surprising amount given only being in existence for just over 20 years. We'll certainly be keeping our eyes peeled for these in the biscuit aisle this autumn, though can't say we'll be sharing! I have not seen these for sale anywhere and being a fan of Bourneville chocolate I just had to give them a go. Looking like an ideal choice to dip into a cup of tea, the moreish biscuit has been released in a dark chocolate version before, but this is the first time it's with iconic Bournville chocolate. The perfect collection for dark chocolate fans- a Bournville heritage presentation selection box containing Bournville Orange Bars and Bournville dark chocolate bars with heritage wraps. It won’t be surprising to hear, given that the brand has been around for the best part of 85 years, that there have been many flavours that had to be sacrificed to make way for the current crop.

This boxed confectionery was originally branded as Miniature Heroes and were introduced in September 1999 as a response to rival Mars' Celebrations (more on them later). Onto the box that led to the development of Heroes - Celebrations launched two years prior to the Cadbury equivalent. It is almost impossible to go to a supermarket at Christmas time and not come across a tin of Quality Street, Celebrations, Heroes or Roses. During the time of its creation, only the wealthy could afford boxed chocolates made from exotic ingredients from around the world with elaborate packaging that often cost as much as the chocolates themselves. Their list of discontinued products is far less extensive than its three competitors with just two to lose their place. As for the brands that’ve been lost, there have been a surprising number given the selection has only been in existence for just over 20 years. It wouldn't quite be Christmas without tucking into one of those chocolate selection boxes that are always more prevalent at the front of supermarkets during this time of year. We finish with one of the 'original two', Roses, which launched in 1938 - two years after Quality Street first came onto the market.
