It is overall inoffensive if you like a melon-type body spray but if you are like me and actively dislike melon or cucumber, be warned. This is nothing “fancy”, but I think that is what appeals to me so much about the CLEAN brand fragrances. I mean this in a good way but it reminds me a little of Old Spice Fiji, fresh and a little citrusy, and smells a little like the first boy you had a crush on in highschool who you thought smelled soooo good when in reality he just smelled like he showered regularly. As for the scent itself, it really does smell like rain, but more of a summer rain storm when you're walking through a woods, the patchouli really gives this a pleasant wet soil type nuance and there is something a bit salty running through this from beginning to end as well, I cannot really pick out the other notes bar the patchouli, but it does smell wonderful and fresh.

Overall, the CLEAN Classic Rain fragrance is a refreshing and timeless scent that captures the beauty of nature and the invigorating energy of a spring rain shower.In reviewing the simplicity of this perfume's note layers, I found this perfume to be a risk in purchasing. I feel it would do well with a more grounding scent, like something woody, and a bit less sweetness. It smelled nice enough on test paper, but on my skin, it skewed very male with a bitter, almost antiseptic note.

Unfortunately, I think it's a bit too manly for me, I tend to connect all thing aquatic with mens' cologne and I just like more feminine frags. This really reminds me of Cucumber Melon from Bath and Body Works even though this has no cucumber in it as a note. But we were discussing summer fragrances, and both these fragrances lack in longevity department (humid weather).Instead of the rich, complex, beautiful scent he had obsessed over for months, it was extremely fresh and citrusy with zero earthiness to it.

It does soften a bit after a couple of hours but the perfume is way too potent for me to stomach, given the way it smells to me. My daughter received a bottle of this as a gift after she took my sample of it that came with my last Sephora purchase and fell in love.

I don’t know what causes it it but sometimes the fragrance will change to this weird, rancid melon smell that can only be described as a cucumber melon lotion I had that was 6 years too old and the fragrance inside it went bad.
